MDS Thursday: Fake it Til You Make It > Hill

Welcome to another week of MDS Thursday.

With all the snow we have had this year I have taken thousands of pictures of my children sledding.  So here is yet another snow insprired page, lol.

Since I wanted to focus on sledding, I wanted to have a hill.  BUT how to make a hill in MDS.  Time to fake it.
Here is how I did it.

First, start by choosing the heart punch.

Enlarge the punch as big as you can get it on the page.

Using the rotation option(s)  rotate the heart.
You can rotate an object two ways.  Move the pointer to the edge of the punch until it turns into a little arrow swirl, hold down and drag (rotate) the object.  See red circle ( unfortunately I couldn't capture the swirl but I promise it's there.)

Or you can use the rotate bar in the design center. See red circle.

Move the punch to create your "hill"

Color fill.
And Ta Da!!!!  A Hill!!!!!

I think this well be a good fake for a roller coaster in the summer too, lol.

Give it a try.  Thanks for looking.

MDS Class

I had another My Digital Studio class last night.  Thank you ladies for coming.

We focused on Text.  I demonstarted how to add text to your page as well as other cool tips and tricks to adding titles and journaling.

Here are the templates we used:

It was fun making scrapbook pages, but I am thinking these sketches would make some cool cards too.

Give it a try.  Thanks for looking.

Downline Meeting

My upline Cindy had a meeting for us Saturday.  We learned to make a paper bow and a beautiful card using the Build A Blossom SS and punch  from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

I will post some picks as soon as I make one that isn't a sample.  I wasn't very careful when making them, so  they are a little sloppy.

We also had a card swap, which is so much fun.

Here is the card I made:

I like to keep it simple.

I used the Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die to create the frame.
I used glue dots for the Baja Breeze Glass Glitter.
I sponged the border with Baja Breeze ink.

The only "trick" I used was to create the embossing in the sentiment.  I don't have any craft ink spots, so I used versa mark ink.  First I placed the stamp in the versa mark, then in the Baja Breeze dye ink pad. Then I stamped the image on the card and embossed.

Give it try.  Thanks for looking.

February Scrapbook Club Pages

We met for our scrapbook club last.  A great time as usual.

Here are the pages we made:

This is a hybrid page.  I used MDS to create the title.

I like the page because you can use it for a dance recital, basketball game, or your prized pet.

Cardstock:  Riding Hood Red, Certianly Celery, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Brights DSP
Stamp Set: Seeing Stars

MDS Thursday: Fake it Til You Make It > Top Note

I use the Top Note die a lot on my cards and regular scrapbook pages, so I wanted to be able to use it on my MDS pages too. So it was time to fake it.

( BTW:I did this before the Top Note was available for MDS download.)

I used the same layout as last week.  I really like it :)

The fake in the this layout is the "Top Note" on the second page.

How to fake a "Top Note":

Add the curly label punch and enlarge it.

Use the paper fill to add a DSP.

Add a second curly label punch

Enlarge it and place it over the original "top note".  Use the shift key to highlight the two punches > click on align objects > center.  This helps to create the border look.

Fill it with a contrasting DSP.

And Ta Da!!!! A fake Top Note !!!

Go give it a try.  Thanks for looking.

Happy Valentine's Day

Last week I had the first Stamping Kids Class.  Stamping Kids is a group of children ages 6 and up that want to create some cards and Valentine's.  We had a lot of fun.  They were better at stamping than I am, lol.

Here is what we made:

These have a Smarties inside

These have Dum Dums.

Some cute cards.
I wish I had some clever thing to write about the use of Smarties and Dum Dums but I don't.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Real Red, Pretty in Pink
Ink: Real Red, Melon Mambo
Punches:1-3/4 Inch Scallop Circle Punch  Heart-To-Heart Punch  Scallop Oval Punch
Big Shot Machine
Two Tags Stampin' Up! Bigz Die
Scalloped Heart Of Hearts Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die

Give it a try.  Thanks for looking.

Under the weather

I didn't post anything last week, I was struck down by a stomach bug.  I am feeling better now and back to my old stamping and scrapping : )

MDS Thursday: Fake it Til You Make It > Rounded Corner

I found this sketch in a magazine and decided to recreate it using MDS.

For the most part it was pretty self explanatory.  The only trick I used was when I wanted to recreate the curved edge on the top banner.

Here is how I faked a curved corner on the banner.

I started by adding the round corner punch to the page.

I enlarged the punch and place it where I wanted it.  Then I added a square punch, enlarged it, and placed it next to the corner punch.

Use the paper fill to add a paper.  This fake works best with a busy paper, so you don't have to match the seams, however if your patient it can work with any DSP.

Choose the same DSP for the paper fill of the round corner punch.

You can double click on the punch, then move the paper around until you find a good match where the seams don't show.

To move the paper around> hold down the left mouse button and move around the page.  It's actually very cool to know you can pick any section of the paper.

And Ta Da!!!  Fake rounded corner.

Go give it a try.  Thanks for looking.

Monthly Card Swap

My upline, Cindy, created a monthly card swap.  What does that mean?  It means that for the next 6 months, on the first of every month, we will send and receive cards from the 13 people that signed up.  How exciting!!!!

They started coming yesterday.  It's been great and everyone has done a beautiful job.

Here is my card.
